With thanks to….
Halifax Bank
In December 1852 a small group of men gathered in the Oak room above the Old Cock Inn, Halifax. Their mission was to set up an investment and loan society, for the mutual benefit of local working people. And so the Halifax Permanent Benefit Building Society was formed.
Our heritage has continued to develop over time, but our birthplace remains at the heart of our business. As part of the Lloyds Banking Group, we are part of the biggest corporate investor in UK communities, investing over £76m in our communities in 2010.
Halifax Bank is very much part of the local community and we are proud of our heritage. Many of our colleagues live in the area and we are proud to support local businesses in the region.
